James Overy joins Sydney FC from Manchester United

Sydney FC has signed 18-year-old Australian defender James Overy on a three-year contract. The right-back joins the A-League club from Manchester United, where he spent the last two years within the academy system.

Overy, an Australian youth international who has represented the Young Socceroos and the U23 national team, aims to use regular senior football at Sydney FC to secure a permanent place in the senior Socceroos squad. Sydney FC head coach Patrick Kisnorbo described Overy as a quick, aggressive, and technically proficient player with a strong competitive mentality.

Previously a prospect at Perth Glory, Overy has already been included in senior national team squads for matches against Colombia and Venezuela. He is expected to integrate into the squad immediately ahead of the new season.
