James Paget University Hospital physiotherapist wins national research award
Rene Gray, the professional lead for physiotherapy at James Paget University Hospital in Norfolk, has been named one of 20 National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) Rising Research Leaders. The award, part of the NIHR’s 20th anniversary, recognizes individuals who improve patient outcomes and support economic growth through research.
Gray was honored for leading NIHR portfolio studies, developing local fellowship programs, and strengthening research culture. His work has influenced national best practices, specifically regarding the National Hip Fracture Database and improving early mobilization after hip fracture surgery. As part of the recognition, Gray will receive a £10,000 professional development award to further his research into patient mobilization and recovery.
