James Penrice to join Rangers on loan from AEK Athens
AEK Athens has reached an agreement with Rangers to loan Scottish left-back James Penrice, according to reports from Fabrizio Romano. The deal includes an option for Rangers to purchase the player permanently.
Penrice, who joined AEK from Hearts last summer for approximately 1.5 to 1.7 million euros, is expected to undergo medical examinations on Friday, August 14. Rangers' interest in the 27-year-old follows an injury to defender Thuur Romens, who is sidelined for an estimated four to eight weeks.
The departure of Penrice leaves AEK Athens in need of defensive reinforcement at left-back, as Stavros Pilios is currently the only player occupying that position in the roster. The club is expected to move quickly to secure a replacement.
