James Rodríguez’s market value plunges to €1.5 million

James Rodríguez’s estimated market value has fallen to €1.5 million, the lowest point of his professional career. The Colombian midfielder once commanded €80 million after winning the 2014 World Cup Golden Boot and signing for Real Madrid.

The decline is attributed to a series of short‑term club spells, limited playing time and recurring injuries. After brief periods with Olympiacos, São Paulo, Rayo Vallecano, Club León and most recently Minnesota United – where he appeared in only eight MLS matches before terminating his contract – he entered free‑agency status at age 35. His 2026 World Cup performance yielded no goals or assists, further reducing his valuation.

Because he is now a free agent, any interested club would negotiate only salary and bonuses, with no transfer fee required. Italian side Lazio and several Liga MX teams have been reported as potential destinations, and the low valuation has even led Bulgarian media to note that local clubs could now afford him.
