James Sloyan, Star Trek actor, dies at 85

American actor James Sloyan, widely recognized for his work in the ‘Star Trek’ franchise, has passed away at the age of 85. Reports indicate he died on July 22 at his home in Sherman Oaks, California.

Sloyan enjoyed a career spanning over six decades, with notable roles in ‘Star Trek: The Next Generation’, ‘Star Trek: Deep Space Nine’, and ‘Star Trek: Voyager’. His television credits also include ‘The X-Files’, ‘Hawaii Five-0’, and ‘Baywatch’. In film, he appeared in the Oscar-winning movie ‘The Sting’ alongside Paul Newman and Robert Redford, as well as ‘Xanadu’.

A graduate of the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and a veteran of the United States Army, Sloyan also worked as a fight choreographer. His family described him in a statement as ‘curious, brave, ingenious, loyal, as well as cheeky, talkative and very urban. He was unique’.
