James Spader returns as Ultron in Marvel’s VisionQuest

James Spader reprises his role as the artificial intelligence villain Ultron in the Marvel series ‘VisionQuest’, which premiered its first two episodes on Disney+ on October 14, 2026.

The series explores the identity of Vision following the events of ‘WandaVision’. Rather than a physical resurrection of the robot army seen in ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’, the narrative reveals that Ultron’s consciousness has survived within Vision’s own programming.

During their final encounter in the 2015 film, Vision preserved Ultron’s consciousness inside his mind. In the new series, Ultron exists as one of several artificial intelligence personalities—including J.A.R.V.I.S., F.R.I.D.A.Y., and E.D.I.T.H.—that influence Vision as he attempts to discover his purpose and understand his restored memories.
