James Talarico campaign faces scrutiny over alleged paid TikTok influencer content
Reports indicate that dozens of TikTok creators were allegedly paid to post positive content regarding Democratic Senate candidate James Talarico. According to findings from The New York Times, a group known as Frontier Media reportedly offered creators $4 for every 1,000 views generated by videos promoting the candidate.
The Talarico campaign has denied any involvement in this payment arrangement. However, scrutiny remains regarding the source of the funding, as Frontier Media has no Federal Election Commission (FEC) filings on record.
This development follows a separate controversy involving the Texas Majority PAC. An organizing manager for the PAC was previously recorded describing a “paid relational program” that involved paying individuals $25, which critics characterized as a roundabout method of paying for votes.
