James Vincent Camilli, longtime BC carpenter, dies at 84

James Vincent Camilli (Jim) passed away on July 22, 2026 at Elk Valley Hospital in Fernie, British Columbia, after a series of strokes. Born on September 10, 1941, he spent his life in the Kootenays, working as a journeyman carpenter and supporting his family through hunting and fishing.

He was predeceased by his wife Heather McLellan, his parents and a sister. Survivors include his children Mel, Michelle, Nathan and Katrina; his brothers Garth, Chris and Michael; his sisters Cheryl and Beryl; and grandchildren Kelsey and Kyler. Camilli was remembered for his hospitality, love of nature and community spirit.
