James Webb Space Telescope reveals new cosmic discoveries
The James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) is providing transformative insights into the early universe and planetary evolution. Astronomers have identified a new class of cosmic objects termed ‘black hole stars.’ These entities, roughly the size of the solar system and shrouded in gas, may explain the mysterious ‘little red dots’ observed in the early universe. Research suggests these objects could be young, massive black holes surrounded by dense hydrogen and helium gas.
In planetary science, JWST observations have helped explain how the gas giant WD1856b survived the death of its host star. The planet likely migrated from a safe distance to its current orbit around a white dwarf, offering clues about the long-term fate of solar systems, including our own.
Additionally, the telescope has identified TOI-1752c as a priority target for study. Located in the constellation Draco, this super-Earth orbits a red dwarf star and sits within a temperature range that could allow for liquid water, making it a candidate for potential habitability.
