James Wolk joins Grey’s Anatomy season 23 cast

James Wolk has joined the recurring cast of Grey’s Anatomy for its 23rd season, which is scheduled to premiere on October 15. Wolk will portray Seth Norton, a character described as a “handsome, arrogant surgeon-turned-businessman” who prioritizes profitability. Norton owns Olympic Regent Health, a luxury medical center where patients pay out of pocket for high-end services.

The addition comes following significant cast departures, including the exits of characters Teddy and Owen, played by Kim Raver and Kevin McKidd. The series has also seen recent changes due to industry-wide budget cuts, which led to a reduction in the minimum episode guarantees for veteran cast members and the temporary absence of characters like Amelia.

Showrunner Meg Marinis previously noted that cast reductions were necessary due to budget constraints, while emphasizing that character departures are intended to provoke emotional responses from the audience.
