Jameson Williams cleared of charges after assault investigation
Oakland County prosecutors have decided not to file charges against Detroit Lions wide receiver Jameson Williams following an investigation into an alleged assault. The investigation, conducted by the Novi Police Department, centered on an incident reported to have occurred at Williams’ home on August 6.
Prosecutors stated that the investigation included a review of statements, photos, videos, and communications. Based on the available facts, the Novi Police and the prosecutor’s office concluded there was no cause to file charges.
Williams’ legal counsel has issued a statement unequivocally denying the allegations of domestic violence, describing them as “baseless” and noting that evidence regarding the credibility and timing of the claims was provided to the prosecutor’s office. While criminal charges will not be pursued, the matter may still face potential civil litigation or league-level disciplinary review by the NFL.
