Jamie Dimon criticizes Donald Trump and administration policies
JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon has emerged as a prominent critic of President Donald Trump, signaling a shift among influential business leaders ahead of the congressional midterm elections. Dimon has criticized the administration’s departure from the multilateral, rules-based international order.
Relations between Dimon and the president have deteriorated following a $5 billion lawsuit filed by Trump against Dimon and JPMorgan Chase over allegations of de-banking, a claim the bank maintains ‘has no merit’. Dimon has also voiced opposition to proposed plans to cap credit card interest rates at 10 percent.
While Dimon has remained critical of recent administration policies, he has previously acknowledged certain aspects of Trump’s platform, including stances on NATO, immigration, and tax reform, noting that the president ‘was kind of right’ on several critical issues.
