Jamie Gittens suffers ankle injury during England U21 match

Chelsea winger Jamie Gittens sustained an ankle injury during England Under-21s' 4-2 victory over Kazakhstan at Molineux. The 22-year-old was forced to leave the pitch in the 39th minute after receiving treatment for a knock.

England Under-21 manager Lee Carsley noted that Gittens was kicked during the match, stating, “Jamie got a kick on his ankle. We never take any risks.” Gittens was reportedly seen leaving the stadium on crutches and will return to Chelsea for further medical assessment.

The injury will cause Gittens to miss England’s upcoming European Championship qualifying matches against Slovakia and the Republic of Ireland. For Chelsea, the setback adds to an existing injury list that includes players such as Joao Pedro and Cole Palmer.
