Jamie Vardy misses Burnley debut due to Serie A suspension

Jamie Vardy was unable to make his debut for Burnley against Wrexham due to a suspension carried over from his time in Italy. The 39-year-old striker signed a one-year contract with the Championship club following a spell with Cremonese in Serie A.

The suspension resulted from Vardy accumulating five yellow cards during the final stages of the Italian season, including a card received in the final match against Como. Because he was unable to serve the resulting one-match ban while playing in Italy, the disciplinary action transferred to his new club in England.

Vardy, a former Leicester City legend, watched the 1-1 draw against Wrexham from the stands. He is expected to be available for selection for Burnley’s upcoming match against Swansea.
