Jamie Vardy joins Burnley on short-term deal

Jamie Vardy, the 39-year-old former Leicester City and England striker, has signed with Championship side Burnley on a free transfer. The contract runs until the end of the current season.

Vardy joins Burnley following a season in Italy with Cremonese, where he scored seven goals in 29 appearances. His move marks a return to English football after a long, decorated career, most notably leading Leicester City to a Premier League title in the 2015/16 season.

Burnley, currently at the bottom of the Championship, aims to use Vardy’s experience and leadership to improve their standing. Manager Nicky Hayen stated that Vardy’s presence will be ‘invaluable’ to the squad. Vardy expressed his excitement, noting that the club has a ‘proper footballing history and passionate fans’.
