Jamie Varley, Preston Davey’s killer, remains in HMP Wakefield while seeking a new name

A category‑A prison nurse at HMP Wakefield, known as “Monster Mansion”, said the whole‑life‑sentenced killer of baby Preston Davey, Jamie Varley, appears terrified and has refused food, but must still be treated with the same medical respect as any inmate.

A former colleague claimed Varley’s violence may have been triggered after learning his partner, John McGowan‑Fazakerley, had cheated on him, suggesting a personal motive behind the infant’s abuse. The same source said Varley has recently applied to change his name to Harry Jae Robb in an attempt to avoid vigilante threats while in custody.
