Jamie Varley takes new name in first week at Wakefield’s ‘Monster Mansion’

Jamie Varley, 37, convicted of murdering his adopted 13‑month‑old son Preston Davey, began serving a whole‑life order at Wakefield Prison, nicknamed “Monster Mansion”, on 15 July 2026. He was placed in D Wing, the unit for the prison’s most vulnerable high‑security inmates, often described as the “super nonces wing”. Varley spends the majority of his time in a 24 ft × 10 ft single cell, leaving only for meals and a short period of daily exercise.

Reports indicate Varley has adopted the alias “Harry Robb” after a bounty was allegedly placed on his head. Inmates have approached his cell, and a fellow prisoner from Liverpool is said to be in contact with him. As one source put it, “He’s been knocking about with some no‑mark con he knows from Liverpool.”

The prison holds around 630 inmates, two‑thirds of whom are convicted of sex offences, and the D Wing is designed to protect prisoners at high risk of self‑harm or attack.
