Jamin “Jay” Demar Williams' Trial Begins in Indio Stabbing Case

A jury is set to be seated this week for the trial of Jamin “Jay” Demar Williams, accused of repeatedly stabbing his girlfriend beneath a bridge in Indio, California. Williams faces charges of assault with a deadly weapon resulting in great bodily injury and domestic violence, with sentence‑enhancing allegations for using a deadly weapon in the commission of a felony.

Riverside County Superior Court Judge Laura Garcia oversaw jury selection, which was interrupted when Williams sought to fire his court‑appointed attorney—a request the judge denied. Williams is being held without bail at the Robert Presley Jail. Prosecutors allege the attack occurred on April 22, 2024, after a period of domestic abuse, during which the victim fled to a nearby 7‑Eleven and called 911.
