Jammu and Kashmir assembly panel reviews infrastructure and Srinagar drainage

The Committee on Government Assurances of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly met to review the performance of the Public Works Department (PWD) and the Housing and Urban Development Department (HUDD). Chaired by MLA Ali Mohammad Sagar, the committee discussed the equitable distribution of resources and the constituency-wise allocation of funds for the Roads Sector for 2026-27.

During the deliberations, members reviewed the progress of various projects, including those under the UT Capex Budget, NABARD, and the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY). The committee emphasized the need for transparency, timely execution, and the utilization of local engineering expertise to address regional terrain and weather challenges.

A primary concern raised was the recurring issue of waterlogging in Srinagar. Chairman Sagar directed HUDD officials to provide detailed action-taken reports and submit a time-bound plan to resolve drainage issues before the next rainy season to alleviate difficulties faced by residents.
