Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah meets traders, legislators on development and tourism

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah held meetings in Srinagar with a group of state legislators and with delegations representing traders, manufacturers and tourism interests. Lawmakers highlighted constituency infrastructure, public‑service delivery and ongoing project implementation, while the chief minister pledged to examine each issue.

The Kashmir Traders and Manufacturers Federation (KTMF) delegation pressed the government to address long‑pending problems affecting traders and artisans, including the rehabilitation of shopkeepers displaced by development projects, settlement of rental disputes and protection of the region’s traditional copper craft. The union representing copper workers warned that nearly 50,000 artisans face a livelihood crisis and asked for a ban on machine‑made copper items and other support measures. A tourism delegation also discussed initiatives to increase visitor inflow and expand outreach in the valley. The chief minister assured all parties that the government would act to sustain economic growth and inclusive development across Jammu and Kashmir.
