Chief Minister Omar Abdullah met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi, urging the early restoration of statehood for Jammu and Kashmir and highlighting the need for faster economic development, infrastructure expansion and increased tourism.

The following day he met Union Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu, requesting that the scheduled closure of Srinagar International Airport from 1‑16 October be shortened, phased or shifted, and suggesting limited civilian flights from Awantipora Air Base to maintain connectivity during the peak tourism season. Authorities have already suspended airport operations on Mondays and Tuesdays from 1 July onward.

Both meetings underscore the regional government's focus on regaining statehood status and sustaining the valley’s tourism‑driven economy.
