Jammu and Kashmir CM Omar Abdullah to lead Delhi protest on July 20

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and National Conference vice‑president Omar Abdullah announced that the party’s “Delhi Chalo” sit‑in protest scheduled for July 20 will go ahead in Delhi, even if the venue or mode of the demonstration changes. The protest is intended to press for the immediate restoration of full statehood to Jammu and Kashmir. Omar said senior party leaders will travel to Delhi on July 19 and that the programme will not be held secretly. He declined to comment on allegations of sabotage or diversion.

Kashmiri Pandit organisations, including Panun Kashmir, also plan a demonstration at Jantar Mantar on the same day, demanding a separate homeland and accountability for the 1990 exodus, sharing the venue with the National Conference rally.
