Jammu and Kashmir boosts digital health IDs and Anganwadi worker benefits
The Union Government reported that more than 1.12 crore Ayushman Bharat Health Accounts (ABHA) have been created in Jammu and Kashmir, bringing the region's total to 1,12,81,735 IDs as of 31 July 2026. Nationwide, 95.99 crore ABHA IDs have been generated, supporting secure access to electronic health records under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission.
Jammu and Kashmir also provides an additional monthly top‑up of Rs 600 for Anganwadi Workers and Rs 300 for Anganwadi Helpers, on top of the central honorarium, together with performance‑linked incentives of Rs 500 and Rs 250 respectively. The scheme includes smartphones and digital monitoring tools for real‑time tracking of nutrition services.
The Union Territory has 5,564 registered AYUSH practitioners—2,393 Ayurveda, 2,602 Unani, 78 Sowa‑Rigpa and 491 Homoeopathy—while recruitment and shortage assessments remain the responsibility of the state and UT administrations.
