Jammu and Kashmir finalizes Jal Jeevan Mission 2.0 water reform plan

The Jal Shakti Department has finalized a Comprehensive Implementation and Reform Plan (CIRP) under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) 2.0 to strengthen rural drinking water infrastructure across Jammu and Kashmir. The plan establishes a time-bound framework for completing water supply schemes, improving maintenance, and ensuring water quality management. To support this initiative, ₹128 crore has been released to Public Health Engineering divisions, consisting of a ₹116 crore central share and a ₹12 crore Union Territory share.

In Kishtwar, Deputy Commissioner Pankaj Kumar Sharma conducted a detailed review of water supply schemes, the Catch The Rain initiative, and water security interventions. Sharma issued time-bound directions to the Jal Shakti, Agriculture, Forest, and Municipal departments to ensure coordinated implementation. Specific directives include starting assessments for remaining villages within seven days and pursuing necessary procurement to meet JJM 2.0 objectives.
