Jammu and Kashmir Government Approves Pulwama Water Scheme and Sets Uniform Building Fees
The Jammu and Kashmir Government gave administrative approval to a Rs 18.96 crore water supply scheme for Pulwama town, slated for the 2026‑27 fiscal year. The project, approved under the Urban Development sector, requires the detailed project report to be technically vetted, compliance with Indian standards and central vigilance guidelines, and is subject to fund availability.
The same government also issued a uniform building permission fee schedule for all Urban Local Bodies and Development Authorities in the Union Territory. Residential construction will be charged ₹80 per square metre, commercial and industrial buildings ₹270, and mixed‑use projects ₹130. A lump‑sum security deposit of ₹3,000 for residences and ₹10,000 for other categories, plus a 40 % compounding fee where applicable, are also mandated. Religious buildings are exempt, and the fee structure is integrated into the Online Building Permission System, with no authority allowed to alter it without departmental approval.
