Jammu and Kashmir government approves Rs 13.75 crore heritage projects for Purmandal shrine and Imambara Zadibal

The Jammu and Kashmir government has sanctioned heritage‑conservation projects totaling Rs 13.75 crore. Rs 7.16 crore will be used to restore and revive the historic Purmandal shrine complex in Samba, while Rs 6.59 crore will fund the conservation and upgradation of the Imambara Zadibal in Srinagar. Both initiatives aim to preserve the architectural and cultural character of the sites and improve infrastructure and visitor amenities for pilgrims and tourists.

These projects follow a series of recent heritage‑preservation efforts in the region, including funding for the Khoo Sahib holy spring in Pulwama, the Jamia Masjid Sharief in Shopian, and the Sarvadhar Chaumanda Mata Mandir in Ramban. The government says the investments reflect its commitment to safeguarding Jammu and Kashmir’s religious, cultural and architectural heritage while enhancing public facilities at key pilgrimage locations.
