Jammu and Kashmir government discusses tourism infrastructure and development

In the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah emphasized the need to expand tourism infrastructure across the region to create more livelihood opportunities for local residents. While noting that Gulmarg possesses a unique attraction that cannot be replicated at every site, Abdullah stated that infrastructure should be developed according to the specific potential and character of individual locations.

Separately, the Jammu and Kashmir government informed the Assembly that there is currently no proposal to establish a separate Tourism Development Authority for the Karnah constituency. Despite acknowledging the area's significant potential for nature, adventure, and pilgrimage tourism—citing sites such as Teetwal, Sadhna Top, and the Sharda Temple—the Tourism Department confirmed that no such proposal is under consideration for the current financial year.
