Jammu and Kashmir government releases Rs 3.21 crore relief for Rajouri

The Jammu and Kashmir government has disbursed Rs 3.21 crore in relief to families affected by flash floods and landslides in the Rajouri district. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah informed the Legislative Assembly that 149 family-wise cases were processed under State Disaster Response Fund norms, with Rs 40.61 lakh distributed in the Rajouri constituency and an additional Rs 2.81 crore released from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.

To address infrastructure damage, the government has prepared a Rs 185 crore proposal for the permanent restoration of 403 damaged roads and bridges. The Power Development Department reported electrical infrastructure damage totaling approximately Rs 27.99 crore across the district. While power supply has been temporarily restored via an Emergency Restoration System tower on the 132 KV Rajouri-Draba transmission line, the tendering process for permanent repairs is currently underway.

Agricultural assessments also indicated significant crop losses during the Kharif 2026 season, with maize damage affecting 15 per cent of 406 hectares and paddy damage affecting 65 per cent of 101.5 hectares.
