Jammu and Kashmir introduces book audit framework and launches teacher training drive
The Jammu and Kashmir government issued a circular that establishes a framework for the evaluation, content verification and periodic review of books and other academic resources across all schools, colleges and universities in the Union Territory. The framework mandates a comprehensive audit of library and digital collections, prohibiting material that is factually inaccurate, extremist, or otherwise objectionable, and aligns the process with the Constitution of India, the National Education Policy and relevant regulatory standards.
Separately, the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) in Kashmir completed a three‑day capacity‑building programme for educators, introducing project‑based and experiential learning methods to implement NEP 2020 and the 2023 National Curriculum Framework. Trained master resource persons will cascade the training to district institutes and schools, aiming to make classroom learning more relevant, skill‑oriented and community‑linked.
