Jammu and Kashmir leaders call for India‑Pakistan dialogue and restoration of Article 370
People’s Democratic Party chief Mehbooba Mufti said she has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif urging the two governments to resume talks on Jammu and Kashmir. She cited recent support for dialogue from senior RSS leaders and argued that peace could transform the region into an economic gateway linking South and Central Asia.
Veteran Congress politician Saifuddin Soz, also a signatory of the same letter, demanded the reversal of the 2019 abrogation of Article 370, describing it as a breach of the trust placed by the Muslim‑majority state when it joined a Hindu‑majority country. Soz stressed that only dialogue, not war, can resolve the dispute and called on regional parties to jointly seek the restoration of the state’s internal autonomy.
