Jammu and Kashmir protesters demand probe into sports quota corruption
Ranjod Singh, leading a hunger strike in Jammu and Kashmir, has declared that the protest will continue until an investigation is conducted into alleged irregularities in the SO-12 list. The demonstrators are protesting corruption related to sports quota jobs and recruitment processes within the sports ministry.
Protesters are specifically demanding the transfer of Nuzhat Gul, the Secretary of the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council, who has held the position for six years. They allege that while many IAS officers have been transferred multiple times during her tenure, she has remained in her post.
Uday Bhanu Chib, President of the Indian Youth Congress, joined the protest and called upon Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Sports Minister Satish Sharma to support an impartial investigation. Chib further alleged that authorities are attempting to suppress the movement by filing FIRs and removing social media posts.
