Jammu and Kashmir Reaches Full Immunisation and Literacy Milestones

The Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir reported 100 % full immunisation coverage under the Universal Immunisation Programme for the 2025‑26 financial year, with most districts achieving the target and only a few falling just short. The Ministry of Health highlighted the role of Tribal ASHAs and intensive outreach that vaccinated over 2,400 zero‑dose children, including nomadic Gujjar and Bakarwal communities.

In a separate achievement, Jammu and Kashmir was declared fully literate under the Government of India's ULLAS scheme, attaining a 99.09 % success rate. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha announced that the territory became the tenth state or UT to meet the 95 % literacy benchmark, making it the most populous region to do so. The milestone follows the identification of 180,317 non‑literates, of whom 178,680 were successfully taught.

Both achievements were presented as landmark progress in health and education for the region.
