Jammu and Kashmir receives digital education and scientific infrastructure support

The Union Ministry of Education has approved the establishment of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) laboratories for 711 government schools and smart classrooms for 530 schools within the Jammu Lok Sabha constituency. These initiatives, aligned with the National Education Policy 2020, aim to promote digital education through the Samagra Shiksha program. To support connectivity in remote and hilly areas, the government has also announced broadband access for rural government secondary schools under the BharatNet project.

Additionally, the Union Government reported that 29 universities and academic institutions in Jammu and Kashmir have received support from the Department of Science and Technology (DST) and the Department of Biotechnology (DBT) over the last five years. This support is provided through various infrastructure schemes, such as FIST, PURSE, and CURIE, designed to strengthen scientific research and infrastructure in higher educational institutions.
