Jammu and Kashmir to stay dry until June 29, rain expected June 30‑July 3

The Meteorological Centre in Srinagar forecasts generally dry weather across Jammu and Kashmir through June 29, with only brief light rain, thundershowers and gusty winds at scattered locations in late afternoons and evenings. A short‑term rain spell is also expected in the plains of Jammu and adjoining areas during late night and early morning hours.

From June 30 to July 3, the forecast shifts to light‑to‑moderate rainfall, thundershowers, occasional intense heavy showers and possible hailstorms. Authorities advise orchard growers to spray early in the mornings and warn the public to stay away from loose structures, electric poles, old trees and to suspend boating or shikara activities during thunderstorms. They also caution that sudden heavy showers could trigger flash floods, mudslides and landslides, urging people to avoid streams and landslide‑prone zones.
