Jammu and Kashmir weather forecast warns of heat and potential flash floods

Jammu and Kashmir is expected to experience hot and humid weather in the coming days, with temperatures in several areas recording above-normal levels. Srinagar recently reported a maximum temperature of 33.5 degrees Celsius, which is 4.2 degrees above the seasonal norm.

Meteorological officials forecast brief spells of rain and thundershowers at scattered locations, particularly during early morning and afternoon hours. While much of the region may see mostly dry conditions, there is a possibility of light to moderate rain and thundershowers between August 31 and September 2.

A weather advisory has been issued warning that brief, high-intensity showers could trigger flash floods, mudslides, and landslides, especially in certain districts of the Jammu division. Residents in vulnerable or landslide-prone areas are advised to remain cautious and follow local guidance.
