Jammu and Kashmir weather warning issued for heavy rain and floods

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) and the Meteorological Centre Srinagar have issued warnings for widespread rainfall, thunderstorms, and intense showers across the Jammu and Kashmir divisions. Between August 31 and September 2, the region is expected to experience light to moderate rain, with isolated heavy spells, lightning, and gusty winds reaching 30-40 kmph.

Authorities have warned that these intense localized showers could trigger flash floods, mudslides, and landslides in vulnerable areas. Residents and farmers are advised to remain vigilant and stay updated on weather developments. While heavy activity is expected to decrease after September 2, scattered rain and thunderstorms may continue intermittently through September 5.

Recent temperature data shows Jammu recorded a maximum of 33.4°C, while Gulmarg was the coolest major station at 19.9°C. Despite high temperatures in other regions, Jammu and Kashmir recorded no heatwave days during August.
