Jammu and Kashmir workers demand wage hikes and regularisation

Workers in Jammu and Kashmir are demanding increased wages and service regularisation. In Srinagar, the Jammu and Kashmir Casual/Daily Wagers Forum, led by President Sajad Ahmed Parray, staged a protest to address long-standing employment concerns. The demonstration occurred during the ongoing Legislative Assembly session, where the government stated it is examining a uniform framework for regularising temporary, casual, and seasonal workers through a committee established in March 2025.

Additionally, CPI(M) MLA Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami raised concerns in the Legislative Assembly regarding Anganwadi and ASHA workers. Tarigami advocated for an increase in their honorariums to match the rising cost of living and requested comprehensive social security benefits, including pensions and insurance. He suggested the Union Territory adopt financial support models used in other regions such as Delhi, Telangana, and Kerala.
