Jammu Crime Branch files chargesheets in fraud and illegal stay cases

The Jammu Crime Branch has filed multiple chargesheets involving fraudulent documentation and illegal residency. In one case, the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) charged Sohan Lal Singh and his late father, Veer Singh, for allegedly securing a government position as a dental assistant at the Arnia Primary Health Centre using a forged 10th-class certificate. Investigations by the Forensic Science Laboratory revealed chemical alterations and erasures on the records, confirming the accused had only completed the 8th class.

In a separate large-scale investigation, the Special Crime Wing (SCW) filed chargesheets against 65 individuals related to the illegal stay of Pakistani nationals in the Jammu division. The investigation covered eight incidents across the Jammu, Poonch, Rajouri, and Kathua districts. Officials stated that several individuals, including residents of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, arrived in India on valid documents during the late 1970s and later obtained Indian identity documents through fraud. This allowed some to secure employment within government departments. The chargesheets include 50 living accused persons and 15 individuals who died prior to the filing.
