Jammu government orders probe into mini-bus accident

The Jammu government has ordered an investigation into a mini-bus accident that occurred on the night of August 9 on a flyover near the Super Speciality Hospital. The vehicle, which was carrying participants of the ‘Project Naari Veerangana’ initiative, overturned, resulting in approximately 34 injuries, including over 25 young women aged between 18 and 25.

Authorities are investigating allegations of rash driving and severe overloading, as the number of passengers reportedly nearly doubled the vehicle's capacity. The injured were transported to Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu, where officials stated they are currently in stable condition. Minister Sakeena Itoo visited the hospital to monitor the treatment and expressed concerns regarding the arrangements made by the NGO involved in the program.

Police have arrested the driver, who had initially gone absconding, as well as the owner of the vehicle. The accident occurred while the group was returning from a Tiranga Yatra event held at Mubarak Mandi.
