Jammu & Kashmir CM Omar Abdullah reviews lake conservation progress
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah chaired the 27th Board of Directors meeting of the Jammu & Kashmir Lake Conservation and Management Authority (LCMA) at the SKICC in Srinagar. Senior officials, including Advisor Nasir Aslam Wani, Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo and various departmental secretaries, attended.
The board examined the implementation of the Integrated Management Plan for the Dal‑Nigeen lake ecosystem and related projects such as eco‑development of lake hamlets, sewerage infrastructure upgrades, and lake‑cleaning operations for Dal, Nigeen, Khushalsar and Gilsar lakes. Abdullah stressed that sustained institutional coordination, scientific planning and timely execution are essential, directing departments to accelerate work while complying with environmental safeguards and to revise any pending proposals accordingly. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to preserving the fragile lake ecosystem through regular monitoring and inter‑departmental cooperation.
