Jammu & Kashmir Man Convicted for Using Forged Police Recruitment Certificate

A Srinagar court convicted Nazir Ahmad Malik for fraudulently obtaining a constable position in the 9th Battalion of the Indian Reserve Police (IRP) by using a forged 10+2 qualification certificate. The Special Mobile Magistrate sentenced him to three years of rigorous imprisonment and a concurrent two‑year simple imprisonment term, along with a fine of Rs 1,000; failure to pay the fine triggers an additional 15 days of simple imprisonment.

The forged certificate was seized by the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) Kashmir, part of the J&K Crime Branch, and verified as fake by the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE). The EOW urged the public to avoid using fabricated documents for employment, warning of legal penalties and reputational damage.
