Jammu: Man killed during birthday celebration dispute

A man was killed during a birthday celebration in the Lower Roop Nagar area of Jammu on Thursday night following a verbal dispute. The deceased, identified as Pawan Nair, also known as Sameer, was reportedly attacked after applying cake to the birthday celebrant's face.

According to police reports, the celebrant, Neeraj (alias Anshu), became enraged during the altercation and attacked Nair with a weapon, causing a serious neck injury. Nair was rushed to Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu by friends but was declared dead upon arrival.

Jammu Police have apprehended two brothers, Neeraj and Rishu, in connection with the incident. They are currently in custody at the Janipur Police Station. Authorities have registered a case under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and are working to recover the weapon used in the attack. An investigation is ongoing, and a post-mortem examination has been ordered.
