Jammu Rural Traffic Police launches two-week safety drive

The Jammu Rural Traffic Police has launched a two-week enforcement and awareness campaign aimed at reducing road accidents by curbing two-wheeler violations. The initiative, which runs from September 1 to September 14, is being implemented across four districts: Samba, Kathua, Rajouri, and Poonch.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Traffic Rural Farooq Qaiser stated that the campaign integrates strict enforcement with educational outreach. Awareness programs are being conducted in schools, colleges, and various public spaces, including bus stands, libraries, and playgrounds. Officers are also utilizing social media and pamphlets to spread safety information.

During sessions at Government Degree Colleges and schools, officials emphasized that traffic safety measures, such as wearing helmets, are intended to protect lives rather than simply avoiding fines. Qaiser noted that while the public has shown cooperation, road safety awareness must remain a continuous effort.
