Jamui molestation case: Suspect's mother alleges staged police encounter

The mother of Nandan Yadav, the primary suspect in a molestation case in Jamui, Bihar, has accused police of staging a fake encounter. She claims that instead of a legitimate confrontation, police shot her son in the leg and planted a weapon on him to justify their actions. She maintains that her son is innocent and was lured to the location by a phone call from a local boy, appealing to the government to give him a chance to reform.

The incident, which involved the harassment of a female student and her classmate on September 19, gained widespread attention after a video of the assault went viral.

Politically, the case has sparked debate regarding Bihar's prohibition laws. RJD leader Shivanand Tiwari commented on the incident, suggesting that the perpetrators were alcohol smugglers. He argued that the state's liquor ban has failed, leading to the rise of powerful liquor mafias and the prevalence of illicit substances in rural areas. Tiwari called for an all-party meeting to address the social consequences of the current excise policies.
