Jan Boháč, member of Divadlo Sklep, dies in cycling accident

Jan Boháč, a 70-year-old member of the Divadlo Sklep theater group, has died following a cycling accident in Slavonice. The incident occurred shortly after midnight on a Sunday.

Boháč was a prominent figure in the local community, serving as the owner and operator of the Besídka restaurant and hotel, which he transformed into a cultural center. He was also a significant supporter of local cultural events, including the Filmová renesance Slavonice film festival.

Colleagues and local organizers, including Milan Mrázek and Milan Šteindler, described him as a visionary and a driving force behind various cultural initiatives. South Bohemian police are currently investigating the circumstances of the accident. Initial findings indicated no signs of collision with a vehicle or evidence of third-party involvement at the scene, and an autopsy has been ordered.
