European Mobility Week initiatives and transport labor disputes

Various regions are observing European Mobility Week, a campaign focused on promoting sustainable, safe, and accessible transportation. In Andalusia, the Junta de Andalucía and local consortia in Jaén, Huelva, and Almería have organized diverse activities. These include information sessions for students, discounted travel for Car-Free Day on September 22, and musical performances on public buses to raise awareness.

In Villamayor and Tías, local governments are hosting educational programs and workshops to encourage intergenerational mobility and safer travel habits for children.

Simultaneously, labor tensions are affecting the transport and logistics sectors. In Jaén, Alsa workers have voted in favor of a strike to demand fairer wages and better working conditions, citing a 30% pay gap compared to colleagues in Granada. In Guadalajara, the UGT union has issued an ultimatum to logistics employers, warning of potential strikes affecting 45,000 workers if a collective agreement is not reached during upcoming mediation.
