Jan-Mikael Järvinen returns to Ilves after 20 years

Ice hockey forward Jan-Mikael Järvinen is returning to his former club, Ilves, after 20 years. The 38-year-old veteran expressed excitement about returning to his roots, noting how much both the game and himself have evolved since his debut with the team during the 2006–07 season.

Järvinen’s career has spanned several leagues and countries, including stints in Germany, Sweden, and Austria. He previously achieved significant success with Tappara, winning Finnish championships in 2016 and 2017, and was a key player for Ässät. Notably, he became the oldest debutant in the history of the Finnish national team, the Leijonat, when he competed in the World Championships at age 37.
