Jan Redmann distances himself from controversial social media post

Jan Redmann, the Brandenburg CDU state chairman and Interior Minister, has distanced himself from a social media post made by the Mittelstands- und Wirtschaftsunion Potsdam. The Instagram post, which featured an AI-generated image of Berlin's Red City Hall with two minarets, included the text: “Judenfrage geklärt, jetzt wird enteignet. Damit ist die Brandmauer gefallen.”

Redmann stated that while the post was “not an antisemitic post” and he believed such accusations could not be made, he emphasized that “the necessary level of sensitivity was not observed.”

The post has drawn intense criticism from various political groups. The Young Christian Democratic Workers' Association within the CDU called for personnel consequences, stating a “red line” had been crossed. Additionally, members of the Left and Green parties in Potsdam described the content as a “taboo breach” and an “outburst,” demanding a public apology.
