Jan Suraaj Party announces five candidates for Bihar MLC elections

The Jan Suraaj Party (JSP), led by founder Prashant Kishor, has announced five candidates for the upcoming Bihar Legislative Council (MLC) elections. The elections, which cover four graduates’ and four teachers’ constituencies across approximately 30 districts, are expected to take place in November.

The announced candidates include: • SP Rai for the Darbhanga Teachers' constituency • Ravindra Yadav for the Darbhanga Graduates' constituency • Afaq Ahmed for the Saran Teachers' constituency • Divya Jyoti for the Patna Teachers' constituency • Rajnish Ranjan for the Kosi Graduates' constituency

Afaq Ahmed, who previously won the Saran Teachers' seat as an independent with JSP support, is seeking re-election. The party's entry into these contests is expected to create multi-cornered battles against established parties, including the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) supporters such as the BJP and JD(U).
