Jana Aćimović to receive stem cell transplant in Germany

Four-month-old Jana Aćimović, born with a rare genetic mutation causing osteopetrosis, is traveling to Ulm, Germany, for a life-saving stem cell transplant. The total cost for the treatment at the University Clinic Ulm is estimated at approximately 1,074,782.51 euros.

Funding for the procedure has been secured through a combination of state support and public donations. The Serbian Ministry of Health, through its budget fund for treating conditions that cannot be successfully managed within the country, has transferred an initial payment of 546,409.60 euros to the German clinic to allow treatment to begin immediately.

Additionally, citizens and various humanitarian initiatives have raised approximately 675,385 euros. The child's parents, Marija and Strahinja Aćimović, expressed their gratitude to the public and noted that the Serbian government provided assistance following the personal involvement of President Aleksandar Vučić. The family stated that any surplus funds will be directed toward helping other children.
